ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive Athens

Upon arrival at Athens Airport, you will meet your local representative and be transferred to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free at leisure. Overnight stay in Athens.

Day 2: Athens

After breakfast at your hotel, the day is at leisure for you to explore Athens at your own pace or join one of the optional tours available. Athens is a city full of contrasts, a fascinating destination for food and wine lovers, for culture and Archaeology wanderers and for everyone looking to explore a nice and vivid place. Overnight stay in Athens.

Day 3: Athens - Hydra

After breakfast, you will take an early morning transfer to Piraeus Port for embarkation on your ferry to Hydra Island. Upon arrival in Hydra, make your own way to the hotel, which is within walking distance of the port. The afternoon is free at leisure for you to begin exploring at your own pace. Hydra, built in the shape of an Amphitheatre on a slope overlooking the Argo-Saronic Gulf, is one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Traditional stone mansions, narrow cobblestoned streets, secluded squares and, above all, the banning of cars and use of around 500 Donkeys as a means of transport explains why Hydra has preserved its distinctive atmosphere through the passage of time. Overnight stay in Hydra.

Day 4: Hydra

Breakfast at the hotel this morning before enjoying the day free at leisure to discover this island full of unique beauty on your own. Today, we suggest you visit the Historical Archive Museum of Hydra.

Hydra Island's existence was well known by the English Admiralty and the likes of Napoleon and Kapoudan Pasha. Whether by sail or steam, the Arvanites Captains carved grooves that will never be lost. To salvage the memory of all the struggles, culture and nobility, the tradition of Greek benefactors has played its part here. A doctor and mayor of the island, Antonios Lignos, gathered and catalogued documents and original manuscripts from the island’s archives. Also, ship owner and benefactor, Gikas Koulouras, built and offered the original building of the Archive Museum. Since 1996, when the more recent building was officially inaugurated, the Museum receives numerous daily visitors and researchers, enabling them to tour it’s truly impressive venues. The exhibits are spread over two floors comprising a panorama of the contribution of Hydra in modern Greek history including figure heads, flags, guns and mκlιe weapons, uniforms, relics of the Revolution, the Balkanand World Wars, a large collection of portraits and watercolours, the Charter of Rigas Feraios, a separate section with mementoes of the intrepid admiral Pavlos Kountouriotis that sealed through his brave spirit the naval and political history of the 20th Century, and, 'most honourable of all', the silver urn with the embalmed heart of admiral Andreas Miaoulis. Publications, exhibitions, conferences, lectures, book presentations, concerts, theatre and dance performances, contained within the grand event entitled 'Cultural Summer Hydra' constitute the constant presence of the Archive Museum in the cultural life of the country. The special sensitivity of the people of the Archive Museum towards Greek seafaring traditions manifests itself in the care of rescuing traditional vessels with a main reference being the traditional 'launch' Helen P. , of which the lengthy salvage efforts aim at establishing the first floating maritime museum of a public character.

Day 5: Hydra - Spetses

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and walk to the port to board the ferry sailing to Spetses. Upon arrival to Spetses, make your own way to the hotel, which is within walking distance of the port. The remainder of the day is free at leisure.

Day 6: Spetses

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before exploring Spetses at your leisure. Known as Isola di Spezie under Venetian rule and Pityoussa (pine clad) in ancient times, Spetses, at just 54 nautical miles from Athens, is a picturesque, car free island with a unique architecture, naval history and culture. Today, the two hundred year old Captains’ mansions lining the coast are testimony to the vast wealth and grandeur of that time. The mansion of the Greek War of Independence heroine Laskarina Bouboulina, the only female admiral in world naval history, now houses Bouboulina’s Museum, which hosts a Cultural Festival every Summer with a plethora of events, while the Spetses State Museum is housed in the mansion of Spetsiot revolutionary leader Hatziyannis Mexis and contains artefacts representing more than 4,000 years of history. Overnight stay in Spetses.

Day 7: Spetses - Athens

After breakfast at the hotel, check-out and walk to the Port for your ferry to Athens. Upon arrival in Athens, meet your driver and transfer to the hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free at leisure. Tonight is your last night in Athens. We suggest you walk all the way to the Plaka Old Athenian neighbourhood, grab an ice cream and head to the local Open-air Cinema Cine Paris. Here watch a movie under the Athenian Sky on the Acropolis foot. An experience you will never forget. Overnight in Athens.

Day 8: Depart Athens

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and be transferred to Athens Airport for your onward journey.
